The owners of Colby Hill Landscape Co., Dave Brett and Pete McGuire, met while skiing in 1990. On their first chairlift ride together, they discovered they shared a common goal of starting a Design/Build Landscape Company. For two years they worked together with a landscape contractor before combining their talents to form Colby Hill Landscape Co. in 1993.

Dave has always loved getting his hands dirty and building and fixing things. He has a BA from Ithaca College and an MA for UMass Lowell. His intention was to be a teacher but he found his true love was working with stones, machines, soil, and plants. He loves to bike, hike and ski with his wife Ilana and their two sons Turner and Eliot.

Pete has an Associates Degree in Ornamental Horticulture from SUNY Cobleskill and a Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture from SUNY College of Environmental Science. He's been gardening since he planted his first garden with his father at the age of seven. He lives in Burlington with his partner Michael and two Chow dogs named Wally and Frasier.
